ABOUT NORA
Putting Her Experience
to Work
Throughout her life, Nora Katzenberger has known the importance of community service and involvement, values she learned from her parents, shared by her siblings, and taken up by her children. A proud product and supporter of public education, Nora is actively engaged in Lakewood City Schools in partnership with students, teachers, parents, and leaders. Nora’s passion for our schools has inspired her decision to run for the Lakewood Board of Education on November 2.
Nora has engaged in several decades of public service, and many of her efforts have focused on public education. Most recently, Nora led the successful campaign for a levy to support Lakewood schools. Despite a pandemic that led to remote schooling and a challenging economy, the levy passed with a record 77 percent of the vote. The levy also boasted a turnout of 9,000+ voters that matched a previous non-presidential election, even though two thirds of the voters had to vote remotely for the first time. The outstanding voter support under the most difficult of circumstances inspired Nora to seek an even larger leadership role in our schools.

Nora has served in the following roles in recent years: member of the Citizens Advisory Committee for four years, the last year as President; member of the Lakewood Ranger Education Foundation Board; Secretary of the Lakewood Foundation Board; Secretary of Theater Alliance of the Beck Center; President of the Horace Mann Elementary PTA; Chair of the Lakewood PTA Scholarship Committee for four years; Lakewood City Schools Brand Task Force member; Clean Water Lakewood Joint Task Force member, Lakewood LGBTQ+ Parent Board founding member; and communications advisor for Connecting For Kids. She has also served on various committees for LakewoodAlive, H2O Service Organization, and is a frequent campaign volunteer for candidates and issues at the local, state, and national level.
